Outstanding 2016 Bordeaux Futures: Coming Soon

“I’ve now tasted more than 1,000 wines from the 2016 vintage in Bordeaux. I can again confirm that it’s an excellent year, producing dynamic and well-structured wines that are fresh and balanced. These wines represent the new renaissance of Bordeaux where harmony, refinement and energy are the new keywords for the region — not raw power and high alcohol. Bordeaux is back.” - James Suckling

2016 is a landmark vintage for Bordeaux. The rainy spring helped the vines thrive through the hot, dry summer. The fall brought some respite from the heat but the dryness remained, which culminated in impeccable harvest conditions. The resulting grapes were perfectly ripened and intensely aromatic. In comparison to 2015, another landmark vintage, 2016 is heralded as at least equal throughout Bordeaux. Certain regions, such as St. Estèphe and the Northern Médoc, produced an even more fabulous product in 2016 due to the ideal dry conditions during harvest. The 2016 wines have a lower alcohol content and more acidity creating greater energy and vibrancy on the palate. In short, with support by renowned wine reviewers and a strong comparison with the 2015 vintage, 2016 can easily be termed a tremendous and very collectable vintage.
