Outstanding 2018 Bordeaux Futures: Major Release Château Angelus

I have just returned from Bordeaux with my HDH colleagues Moriah Spicer and Dave Domer, and we found that the 2018 vintage is fantastic. In general, the 2018s are very similar to the 2016s with some opulence of 2009 and 2015 mixed in. There is a unique freshness to the vintage. Overall, the wines are rich, powerful, and intensely structured but it’s the freshness, bright fruit, and velvety tannins which sets the vintage apart. There seems to be a shift away from the over-blown, extracted style towards a more classically styled wine which is very open and expressive but still balanced.

The first major release of the 2018 vintage is from Château Angelus. With a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, this wine has great black fruit aromas and refined, velvety tannins. I would pick up a case of this terrific 2018 now. Feel free to reach out to me or the Retail Team to answer any questions about the vintage or make recommendations.
