We will hold an auction of Finest and Rarest Wines on March 19th and 20th at award-winning Tru Restaurant, located at 676 North St. Clair Street in Chicago. The impressive two-day sale includes several private cellars from the Eastern Seaboard and multiple collections from the Midwest and West Coast. Prominently featured is a magnificent collection of 1st-Growth Bordeaux, an exciting range of DRC and many wines in large format bottlings. Vast collections of full case Bordeaux from top vintages 1982, 1995, 1996, 2000 and 2005 are featured throughout the sale. Also offered is a library-like run of Château Pétrus. The pre-sale auction estimate is $2.9-$4.3 million and the sale will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19th & Saturday, March 20th.
Auction attendees will be seated in Tru’s stunning art-filled dining room and will have the opportunity to enjoy the James Beard award-winning cuisine of Chef Rick Tramonto and Pastry Chef Gale Gand, and order wines from the 17,000-bottle wine cellar overseen by Sommelier Chad Ellegood. Attendance to the auction is open to the public and free of charge. Hart Davis Hart will offer a special lunch and tasting on Friday, March 19th. In conjunction with the auction, on the evening of Friday, March 19th, Hart Davis Hart will host a unique a walk-around tasting of the exceptional 2005 grand cru vineyard, Bâtard-Montrachet. Comprised of less than 12 hectares, Bâtard-Montrachet produces complex wines of superb quality. The tasting will feature bottles from 13 producers including Leflaive, Ramonet, Sauzet, and Henri Boillot. Chef Laurent Gras, of L2O Restaurant (2300 Lincoln Park West, Chicago, IL) will prepare an assortment of canapés to accompany the wines.
