Leads US Wine Auction Market

June Auction Brings HDH’s US Auction Sales to $34.4 Million

(June 25, 2018 - Chicago, IL) - In a monumental two-day sale this past weekend, Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. cemented its status as the #1 wine auction house in the US for the first half of 2018. Thus far this year, HDH has sold 100% of the 11,394 lots offered for a total of $34.4 million.

HDH’s record-breaking, 100% sold June auction realized $7.1 million in sales against pre-sale estimates of $4.4-6.6 million. The auction attracted interest from around the globe with bidders hailing from over 44 states and five continents. While some participants traveled to Chicago to attend the sale in person, many more bid via Hart Davis Hart’s revolutionary auction website and mobile app.

The June sale featured 2,248 lots of incredible diversity and provenance. Over 65% of all lots sold above their high-estimates, with many achieving astonishing prices. The strength of the Burgundy market was reflected in the sale as the 754 Burgundy lots sold for $2.8 million against pre-sale estimates of $1.6-2.4 million. Of particular note was 12 bottles of 1991 Chambertin, Domaine Leroy which sold for a recording-breaking $95,600 (est. $24,000-35,000).
