With so much praise being lavished upon the 2009 and 2010 vintages in Bordeaux, the earlier vintages of 2007 and 2008 have been unfairly overlooked. These wines deliver some of the finest quality and best value on the current fine wine market. These two vintages have distinctly different styles, each with its own merit, and both have the substance and maturity for a fascinating and informative comparison. Please join us for our annual Comparative Bordeaux Tasting as we enjoy examples of both vintages from twenty top Châteaux, including all five First Growths.

The weather in 2007 was highlighted by the warmest spring in over a century. Early flowering was followed by the challenge of a cool and wet summer. A perfectly timed heat wave intervened at the end of August, invigorating the crop-thinned vines. 2008 was marked by varied weather throughout the growing season, but nature once again came to the rescue in September and October and the harvest was one of the latest on record.

Our venue for the evening will be Wright, a pioneering auction house specializing in modern and contemporary design. A selection of pieces will be on view during this event.

Please contact Nick Pagoria at 312.573.2550 for reservations.

"It did not take me long to realize that the 2008 vintage was dramatically better than I had expected. It had all the qualities that make an excellent and in some cases, a great vintage so special: exceptionally dark opaque colors, gorgeously ripe fruit, stunning purity almost across the board, great freshness (because it was a cool year), slightly higher acids than normal, and remarkable density as well as concentration."
