2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Donatella Cinelli Colombini

$138.00 per Bottle

"Good full ruby-red. Raspberry, dried violet, balsamic oils and sweet spices on the knockout, perfumed nose. Sweet, concentrated and spicy, possessing a deep core of ripe red fruits and tarry nuances that have terrific definition and lift. The ripe, very deep finishing flavors spread out to saturate the palate. Another magically well balanced wine from Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s portfolio of Brunellos released this year." "The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a robust and richly textured wine with dark fruit flavors of prune, blackberry and black currant. Ample spice, tobacco and tar fills in the rear. This wine glides over the palate with smooth and velvety intensity. If a wine could build all of its merits on mouthfeel, this wine would do precisely that. You can drink it in the near term or wait for it to complete its aging evolution." Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #235

"Macerated cherry and strawberry flavors are shaded by oak spice in this well-built red. Right now, the fruit is overshadowed by tannins, but the finish comes together nicely. Best from 2022 through 2035. 550 cases made, 185 cases imported." Wine Spectator

"Lots of rose petals and rose tea with the ripe fruit in the midst, too. Full-bodied, ripe and powerful with chewy tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Needs a year or two to soften. Better in 2020." JamesSuckling.com

"Maturing ruby with orange tinges. Savoury and a little meaty on the nose with nutty notes and compact, concentrated palate with hints of dried fruit. Genuine and with a complex finish." Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com
