TASTING NOTES

"The selection for this cuvée from hail-struck Blanchots needed to be specially rigorous (only 3,000 bottles, some in magnum) but has resulted in a wine worthy of its lofty reputation. Pale lemon. Captivating nose: very elegant, fine, subtle, fresh, floral, and citrus. Concentrated but effortless, flowing, graceful and pure; not penetrating or scintillating, but dancing, floating, sublime." Neil Beckett, The World of Fine Wine, Issue 55

Rating: 95

"There is substance here, with concentrated flavors of peach and melon, shaded by notes of oak spice and lemon. Well-structured, courtesy of the lively acidity, leaving an aftertaste of ripe fruit and mineral. Best from 2018 through 2024. 25 cases imported." Wine Spectator

"Pale yellow. An element of spicy oak sweetens the aromas of white peach, lemon, orange zest and minerals. Much riper, richer and broader in the mouth than the basic Blanchots, but with its somewhat sweeter impression nicely countered by harmonious acidity. The oak element contributes spice and personality to this wine, as well as early appeal, but its greater density suggests that it will need a bit more time in bottle to express its underlying fruit and minerality. For all its chewy richness, the finish is smoother and longer than that of the regular Blanchots, not to mention more saline. A major mouthful of wine but not a bit heavy." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com

"While it is extremely subtle, there is a discernible whisper of wood framing the overtly Chablis-like nose that combines notably ripe notes of petrol, citrus, sea breeze and iodine. There is excellent density and punch to the relatively bigbodied flavors that exude enough minerality to remark upon and particularly so on the bitter lemon-tinged finish where, like several of these 2015s, a touch of warmth arises. This isn’t elegant and it’s not perfectly well-balanced but if you find robust Chablis to be appealing, this would be one to check out. By contrast, if elegant and refined Blanchots is your preference, I would suggest revisiting this wine from 2014." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Issue 68

"Rich and spicy on the nose, exquisite layers of concentrated citrus fruit on the palate. Dry but ripe and generous throughout with quite fantastic length. Pithy, phenolic mouthfeel. Excellent." Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com
