TASTING NOTES

"Multifaceted aromas of lemon, orange zest, dusty stone, flint and white pepper sexed up by a yeasty, marrowy complexity. Sappy, saline and pure, showing outstanding inner-mouth energy and penetration. Virtually all of these 2014s have high acidity buffered by dry extract and spices. Almost youthfully bitter today and yet this bracing Clos is also pliant and sweet. Finishes with superb salty grip and length. This should age for a long time." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com

"The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos has a detailed bouquet with flint, smoke and light spicy aromas developing in the glass. The palate is clean and fresh with a fine line of acidity, very fine depth and poise, that spicy tincture becoming more pronounced towards the finish. What I appreciate in this Chablis Les Clos is the harmony, perhaps even more than the Les Blanchots. It just glides along and gently fans out, leaving the customer satisfied and demanding more. This is superb." Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #226

"Though creamy in texture, good cut keeps this white racy and focused, setting the stage for lemon, apple, white peach and mineral flavors that stretch out on the long finish. Deftly balanced. Best from 2018 through 2027. 625 cases made." Wine Spectator

"It's interesting as this quite closely resembles the Blanchots with its cool, pure and restrained nose of white flowers, citrus, algae and mineral reduction nuances. There is solid punch and excellent delineation to the mineral-driven and intense middle weight flavors that like the Blanchots are not particularly dense but I do like the delivery on the focused and notably dry finale. Once again like the Blanchots this could definitely use a bit more mid-palate concentration but it is certainly quite pretty." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Issue 64

"Smoky, expressive and ripe, with a lot of the mineral quality that is more often associated with the Côte d'Or. Full-bodied, rich, pure and rewarding. Excellent stuff." Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com
