"Moderate wood influence and reduction are all that can be discerned at present. Otherwise the succulent and remarkably rich flavors are blessed with abundant amounts of dry extract that coats the palate and buffers the very firm tannic spine on the youthfully austere and sneaky long finish. This is a relatively big wine in the context of the vintage and one that will need most of 20 years to arrive at its apogee." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Issue 73

"The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has quite a strict, minerally bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and light pressed iris aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with gently gripping tannin, touches of orange peel and marmalade infusing the red berry fruit. The peppery finish perhaps does not quite possess the persistency of the Vosne Premier Crus at the moment." Neal Martin, Vinous.com

"The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru displays attractive aromas of licorice and cassis that mingle with nuances of rose petal and incense, framed by a judicious touch of new wood. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and layered, with a broad-shouldered chassis of fine-grained tannins and the elegance and suppleness typical of the vintage, concluding with a sapid finish." "Lightish crimson. Red fruits, roses and a light hint of vanilla. One of those wines you want to go on smelling for ever. Tighter on the palate but still succulent. Tannic finesse. Great combination of subtlety and persistence. Red fruits and almost something close to citrus." Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com
