"The 2016 Charmes Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has a generous bouquet with perfumed red cherries, crushed strawberry and cranberry scents laced with Chinese five spice and crushed flower petal aromas. I appreciate the focus and elegance here. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe red berry fruit, extremely well balanced and restrained (not unlike Denis Bachelet's that I tasted in my prior visit). There is plenty of tension here, and there is a satisfying salinité on the finish that lingers long after the wine has been swallowed. This is a superb Charmes-Chambertin from Christophe Perrot-Minot." Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #234

"Mild reduction pushes the fruit to the background but I doubt that it will last. Otherwise there is excellent size, weight and intensity to the tautly muscular, precise and powerful big-bodied flavors that also flash an interesting hint of citrus character on the very tightly wound finish. Like several of the wines in the range this is going to require at least some bottle age to unwind and flesh out as this is quite linear and youthfully austere today." "Healthy bright red. Fresh aromas and flavors of spices, flowers, red licorice and mint show a bit more mocha torrefaction and a bit less red fruitiness than most of the foregoing samples. Then a step up in flesh and sweetness in the mouth from the premier crus at this address; more voluminous and horizontal. Boasts terrific soil-driven minerality (these vines are situated very close to Chambertin) but not quite as complex today as the 2015 was at the same stage of its evolution. The rising finish features fine-grained tannins and savory, spicy length." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com
