2015 Clos Vougeot, Maison Olivier Bernstein

Côte de Nuits, grand cru

$369.00 per Bottle

5 Bottles

"From a plot of 88-year-old vines in the middle of the Clos on the south side toward Vosne. Tightly coiled, powerful, with a profound depth of black-fruit aromas. Its clenched tannic structure cloaks great complexity and mineral strength. Given serious aging it should develop into a great, succulent wine and reach an honored place among the top Clos Vougeots. 2025-35." Michael Edwards, The World of Fine Wine, Issue 55

"Dark red with ruby tones. Reduced aromas of black cherry, licorice and wild herbs. Then wonderfully silky yet also utterly primary in the mouth, offering high-pitched black cherry and herb flavors and finishing with substantial granular tannins. Almost austere but not exactly hard, even if it's rather inexpressive today. But this wine from 80-year-old vines has the material and balance to make an outstanding bottle. Bernstein describes these vines as "in the middle of the Clos on its south side, not far from Echézeaux." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com

"A brooding, ripe and almost mute nose only grudgingly offers up its aromas of various dark berries, earth and sauvage wisps. There is once again exceptionally good richness and volume to the full-bodied, mouth coating and powerful broad-shouldered flavors that deliver good if not excellent length on the noticeably warm and firm finish. This robust and imposing effort should benefit from extended cellaring because even with the warm it's clear that the tannins are fully mature." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Issue 65

"100% new oak. Just a hint of reduction. Very juicy and sweet within a noticeable framework. Good definition and drive. Slightly drying on the end at the moment. Lip smacking." JancisRobinson.com
