"Initially this opens with soft hints of herbal tea though with air they largely dissipate to reveal ever-so-slightly oaky aromas of plum, dark berries and plenty of earth character. There is reasonably good richness and solid detail to the delicious, round, concentrated and intense middle weight flavors where the supporting acidity plays right on the edge of being drying yet it stops just short. Overall this is a little awkward at present yet I suspect that as the tannins begin to resolve this will become more harmonious and my score offers the benefit of the doubt in this regard." "Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry, mocha, licorice and earth on the nose. Sweet, supple and oaky; much more approachable than the Ligniers' top few estate bottlings but without quite the energy of the Lignier vinification. And the oak element is more apparent here in the slightly charry, even bitter-edged finish. Doesn't quite come alive today. Will time leaven the oak element and soften these dusty tannins? My score gives this wine the benefit of some doubt." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com
