TASTING NOTES

"High-toned lemon oil, kirsch, wood smoke, and bittersweet floral essences in the nose of Pillot's 2007 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes lead to a mouth full of fresh white peach and grapefruit, laced with orange zest, peach kernel, chalk, and iodine. This displays the near-implosive density of the Vergers, but with more charm, more generosity of fruit, an oily richness of texture, and a more energetic interplay of elements in a finish that doesn't just shimmer, it practically shimmies! These vines are all 50-60 years old. Here is another exception of its vintage that really seems to demand a bit of bottle age, and which I would expect to be worth following for at least 6-8 years." "Perfumed and rigid and strict in a good way. Very pure and racy but with a good spread of smoky fruit over the palate. Bravo!" JancisRobinson.com
