Côte des Blancs, Avize

"A single 0.7ha plot in Avize, this has very assertive citrus and dried peach edge with strong chalky minerals. Extremely vibrant. The palate has richness of fruit with white peach and apricot flavors. Sturdy structure supports ripe and concentrated fruit. Grape maturity is expressed at an elite level here – a gift of the terroir and its interpreters. The acidity is striking, driving a deep, sorbet-like finish. Drink now." JamesSuckling.com

"One of the highlights in this range, the 2010 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Chemins d'Avize Grand Cru is a total knock-out. Lemon peel, flowers, mint and white pepper are some of the many notes that race out of the glass. Vibrant, powerful and beautifully sculpted, the Chemins d'Avize oozes character. Powerful and yet also light on its feet, the 2010 is a striking wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. This is an especially vinous, powerful expression of the Côte des Blancs. Chemins d'Avize is a blend of fruit from the Chemin de Plivot and Chemin de Flavigny lieux-dits. The 2010 was vinified and aged in oak barrels of various sizes and bottled with 2 grams of dosage. Disgorged: June 2016." Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

"The brilliant, white golden-colored 2010 Les Chemnins d'Avize Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut offers a highly complex, lovely intense and refreshing bouquet of white fruit flavors mingled with nuts, brioche, chalk and iodine flavors. Full-bodied and generously creamy-textured, this is a highly elegant and perfectly balanced Blanc de Blancs that is rather rich than ascetic (in case you fear the Extra-Brut), and reveals a persistent mineral structure and refreshing purity in the finish. Although the Chemins is still bloody young, it drinks wonderfully today, but can (or should) age for several years to gain even more delicacy and complexity." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #223

"Richer on the nose compared with the Latitude, with a touch of honey and brioche. Counterpointed on the palate by intense citrus freshness and fabulous tension. Full of energy and utterly refreshing. Persistent too, with a fine bead. Very good indeed." Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com
