1999 Siepi, Castello di Fonterutoli (Mazzei)

Toscana IGT

$80.00 per Bottle

3 Bottles

"Super. Subtle aromas of milk chocolate, toasted oak and berries. Full-bodied and extremely velvety, with loads of beautiful fruit and a long, sophisticated finish. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best after 2004. 2,500 cases made." Wine Spectator
(WS, 09/15/2002)

Rating: 93
Drink from: 2004

"The 1999 Siepi, an outstanding blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Merlot aged for 16 months in French oak, boasts a dense ruby/purple color along with sumptuous aromas of new oak, black currants, blackberries, and new saddle leather. It is dense, powerful yet harmonious, with sweet tannin and plenty of structure. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following decade." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #137

"Mid crimson. Lovely nose, very complete. Great balance. Dense and racy. A polished version of the 1997. Real zest and very fluent. Wonderful balance. No one could be disappointed. Clean!" JancisRobinson.com
