TASTING NOTES

"This cool and youthful dry riesling has lovely candied citrus and herbal notes with excellent depth and a long, complex finish that's full of energy. Delicious now, but should easily keep for a decade. Organic grapes. Demeter certified." JamesSuckling.com

"From the top of the hill and grown on sand and quartz, the 2015 Fronholz Riesling opens with a fascinatingly clear, precise, fresh and stony/mineral bouquet with lemon and floral aromas. Picked on September 22, this is a full-bodied, rich, intense and elegant but cool Riesling with juicy tropical fruit flavor, a silky texture and fine tannins in the long, elegant, sensual and very aromatic finish. This is a remarkably good Riesling on the Premier Cru level." Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #231

"A finely balanced, minerally white, with bright acidity and well-meshed flavors of Asian pear, nectarine and candied Meyer lemon zest. Offers a lingering finish of smoke and spice. Drink now through 2027. 400 cases made." Wine Spectator

"Luminous straw-yellow. Nectarine, wet stones and white flowers on the nose. Clean, fresh and floral, offering high-pitched, penetrating saline flavors similar to the aromas and delivering noteworthy gingery cut on the long finish. The Riesling here is planted on quartz-siliceous soils with clay much deeper down (around seven meters below the surface, according to Ostertag). It’s a luminous site, but heat fails to accumulate because of the wind, and even if it did get hot, the clay below ground ensures that the vines will find some degree of refreshment most years."
