1954 Terrantez Madeira, Henriques & Henriques

$715.00 per Bottle

2 Bottles

"The 1954 Terrantez was possibly bottled around 30 years ago. Madeira expert Alex Liddell, who attended this tasting, suggested that perhaps only 24 bottles were made as a trial bottling. It is deeper in color than the 1954 Demijohn Selection served alongside. The powerful bouquet takes no prisoners, marshaling scents of burnt honey, leather, dried fig, caramelized pear and raisin, all quite focused and well defined. The palate is very well balanced with a tangy, spicy opening featuring notes of pain d’épices, fig, a hint of dark chocolate and a touch of burnt caramel. There is not great depth to this Terrantez, although it exhibits more persistence than the aforementioned 1954 Demijohn. A twist of tangy bitter orange combines with allspice and white pepper on the finish. Very fine. Tasted at Mr D’s Terrantez tasting in London." Neal Martin, Vinous.com
