"An impressively layered, cool and ultra-fresh nose combines notes of spice, earth, plum and red berry fruit liqueur, all of which is trimmed in a deft touch of oak. There is equally good depth to the racy and mouth coating medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration along with excellent punch on the lightly mineral-inflected, balanced and persistent finish. This is beautifully well-balanced and very classy though once again, at least moderate patience will be necessary." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Issue 69

"Bright medium red. Complex, alluring aromas of black raspberry, plum, smoke and soil. Considerably deeper and silkier than the Cazetiers, conveying an impression of tangy sweetness to its rich flavors of black cherry and chocolate. Lovely texture and depth here, and a subtly long finish featuring very refined tannins. This wine is actually a bit subdued today. Cellarmaster Philippe Brun noted that the estate's Clos Saint-Jacques always goes through closed periods--"the 2005 is impossible now"--while the Cazetiers is always good." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com

"Bright crimson. Rich and black peppery. Then smooth and polished. A little lighter and fresher than Les Cazetiers. Elegant." JancisRobinson.com
