"Intriguing hints of iodine and ginger are already signaled on the nose of this bottling mostly from Morstein with around 20% Brunnenhäuschen, though pithy piquancy of apple pips and apricot pit play a dominant role on the palate. Add in stony, chalky underpinnings and the overall effect is quite austere. It may be Wittmann’s intention that this bottling make up for its lack of charm or flattering fruitiness with its impressive sheer extract richness and grip. But perhaps more important for its success are the wine’s relative alcoholic levity and the emergence of refreshingly juicy if tart apple and lemon. This will definitely be worth revisiting after a year or two in bottle." David Schildknecht, Vinous.com
