Hart Davis Hart’s Largest Burgundy Auction Brings in $7.7 Million

Record-Shattering Prices confirm the Strength of Fine Wine Market

(May 20, 2019 - Chicago, IL) - Hart Davis Hart, America’s top wine auction house, continued its strong performance in 2019 with a 100% sold May sale, posting $7.7 million in sales against a pre-auction estimate of $5.0-7.5 million. The sale was Hart Davis Hart’s largest Celebration of Burgundy auction to date, exceeding the previous record by half-a-million. The record-shattering prices confirm both the current strength of the fine wine market and HDH’s standing as the top auction house in the United States.

The two-day auction featured the region’s finest wines, with over 200 Burgundian domaines represented. Over half of all lots exceeded their high estimates, many of which achieved record prices.

The jeroboam of 2001 Romanée-Conti shattered world records bringing in $95,600 against pre-sale estimates of $60,000-90,000).
