1998 Right-Bank Bordeaux Tasting

Friday, March 30, 2007

TRU Restaurant
676 St. Clair St.

Please join us for a unique tasting of the wines from Bordeaux’s Right Bank. On Friday March 30th, 2007 from 6:00-8:00pm we will hold a walk-around tasting of twenty right-bank Châteaux from the 1998 vintage at the award wining TRU Restaurant. Both the St.-Emilion and Pomerol appellations received 96 Points for the vintage from Robert Parker.

Robert Parker on the 1998 vintage in St.-Emilion and Pomerol

"This is unquestionably the greatest vintage for Pomerol and St.-Emilion since 1990, and given the fact that there are so many new emerging stars/garage wine micro-vinifications from St.-Emilion, I would argue there are even more profound St.-Emilions in 1998 than were produced in 1990. My recent tastings revealed just how sweet the tannin had become in the Pomerols and St.-Emilions, as well as how many more layers of fat and richness these wines have added to their mid-palates. Make no mistake about it, 1998 is a prodigious vintage for these two appellations. With time, this vintage will easily rank as highly as 1989 and 1990 for Pomerol, and 1990 for St.-Emilion."
