"Lurid magenta. Fresh, mineral-accented red fruits, exotic spices and garrigue on the pungent, highly perfumed nose. Juicy and sharply delineated on the palate, displaying vibrant, spicy lift to the concentrated raspberry, bitter cherry spicecake and lavender flavors. Shows a suave floral pastille quality on the long, penetrating finish, which is framed by silky, slow-building tannins. I really like this wine's balance of richness and finesse. Made with 50% whole clusters." Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com

"A blend of 90% grenache for the Piedlong section and 10% mourvedre from the Pignan section, both old-vine parcels. The wild herbs and dried, wild red flowers and roses here are really something, together with grilled meat. Rich and succulent, very fleshy and intense. Drink or hold." JamesSuckling.com

"The 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Piedlong is roughly 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre. I tasted the final blend just two weeks prior to its scheduled bottling. Roses, dried spices, cherries and strawberries appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is fresh, vibrant and silky in texture, with a long finish." "Tasted blind. Raspberry and redcurrant fruit with excellent ripeness and flesh. Attractive herby character on the palate and subtle, integrated spice on the finish. Appreciably nuanced for a special cuvée, with good persistence and weight." Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com
