Côte de Nuits, 1er cru

$125.00 per Bottle

"The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots is performing well in bottle, delivering aromas of sweet berries, cassis, plums, dark chocolate and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and elegantly muscular, it's nicely balanced, with plenty of boisterous upfront charm as well as potential for the longer-term." "The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru comes from two parcels comprising 1.5 hectares. This is a distinct level up from the Village Cru, with a nose of red cherries, wild strawberry and light rose petal aromas, all beautifully defined and quite Mugneret-Gibourg in style. The medium-bodied palate offers slightly chalky tannins on the entry. Quite compact and not a deep Nuits Saint-Georges, though there is fine mineralité toward a finish replete with blackberry and dried blood/ferrous notes. I suspect it will flesh out during the remainder of its élevage, and it should be fascinating to watch in bottle." Neal Martin, Vinous.com

"Discreet but still discernible wood sets off cool, pure and elegant aromas of various dark berries, plum and a touch of freshly turned earth. There is a lovely sense of refinement to the still sleekly muscular and powerful middle weight flavors that possess a sappy mouthfeel on the ever-so-mildly austere, long and serious finale."
