2016 Volnay, Clos des Chênes, Louis Jadot

Côte de Beaune, 1er cru

$79.00 per Bottle

12 Bottles

"Generous wood and menthol influence does not enhance the distinctly earth and spicy aromas of various dark berries. On the plus side there is impressive size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered and mineral-driven flavors that possess impressive reserves of dry extract, all wrapped in a rich but well-delineated finish that is robust but well-balanced. This very firmly structured is going to require extended bottle age to arrive at its peak." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Issue 70

"The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes has the best aromatics from the four Volnays I tasted from Jadot, principally because it has more opulence, more "Volnay" on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe tannin, sweet and sensual with a lush, zest finish tinged with blue fruit and spice. Excellent." Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #234

"Healthy dark red. Dark cherry and coffee aromas are complemented by spicy oak. Surprisingly plush and tactile in the mouth, conveying serious medicinal reserve nicely leavened by fleshiness. The cherry fruit is lifted by livelier notes of raspberry and cranberry. Perhaps the longest of these 2016s to this point, finishing with substantial fine-grained tannins. This has the mid-palate material and structure for a leisurely evolution in bottle." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com
