2018 Futures Update: Ducru-Beaucaillou, Léoville Las Cases and Pichon-Longueville, Lalande Now Available

We’re thrilled to announce that the 2018 Ducru-Beaucaillou, Léoville Las Cases, Pichon-Longueville, Lalande, and Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge Futures are now available for purchase. These wines represent the sweet spot of the vintage, offering incredible value compared to top wines from anywhere else in the world. Léoville Las Cases is potentially the wine of the vintage, and possibly better than their perfect 2016. Pichon-Longueville, Lalande is another beautiful wine made by the talented Nicolas Glumineau, who is making some of the best and most sought-after wines in Bordeaux. St-Julien was a bright spot in 2018, and the Ducru-Beaucaillou is a beauty, while Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge was one of the top performing wines in Pessac-Léognan.

The 2018 Ducru-Beaucaillou is purely stunning. It is a very structured wine while being smooth with generous fruit. Antonio Galloni states “In most recent vintages, Ducru has been a tannic behemoth, but the 2018 is remarkably silky, sumptuous and nuanced.”

The 2018 Pichon-Longueville, Lalande is bursting with bright fruit, silky tannins, and a long finish. James Suckling, who gave the wine 98-99 points, notes that it’s “Just floating on the palate…A classic.”

Léoville Las Cases is always a favorite for the HDH team, and the 2018 is no exception. The wine is rich and full of energy, with silky tannins and notes of spice, ripe fruit and blackberries on the palate. Lisa Perrotti-Brown calls the 2018 “Simply breathtaking.”

The 2018 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge is intense with plenty of black fruit aromas and flavors. Act now to secure these excellent 2018 Futures at first tranche pricing today.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou $1,170/6 bs
(97-99 WA, 95-98 AG, 98-99 JS, 17+ JR)
"This is so layered and beautiful with incredible tannin quality. Full-bodied with a caressing texture that reminds me of the finest cashmere. So layered. You want to swallow this. Brings a smile to the face. Wow. So well crafted." (98-99 points) JamesSuckling.com, April 2019

Château Léoville Las Cases $1,500/6 bs
(98-100 WA, 95-98 AG, 99-100 JS, 18.5 JR)
"The 2018 Léoville Las Cases is a rich, sumptuous, exotic wine in 2018. Plush fruit and suave, silky tannins give the 2018 a level of textural richness that is unusual for a young Léoville Las Cases. Crème de cassis, lavender, mint and sweet spice all build in this extraordinarily beautiful wine. I can't recall tasting a young Las Cases with this much immediacy and sheer allure. The 2018 Las Cases has a very bright future. It is also one of the unquestioned stars of the vintage. In 2018, the blend is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 9% Merlot." (95-98 points) Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, April 2019

Château Pichon-Longueville, Lalande $1,080/6 bs
(97-99 WA, 95-98 AG, 98-99 JS, 17.5 JR)
"A deep and intense young red with blackberries and blueberries, as well as green olives and hints of fresh tobacco. But really black fruit. Full-bodied, tight and integrated with a refreshing and harmonious finish. Just floating on the palate. Great tannin backbone to this. A classic. Another flying carpet." (98-99 points) JamesSuckling.com, April 2019

Château Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge $650/6 bs
(97-99+ WA, 90-93 AG, 98-99 JS, 17 JR)
"Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot aging in 60% new barriques, the very deep purple-black colored 2018 Smith Haut Lafitte is a little shy to begin. With coaxing, it very slowly unfurls to reveal a heart-stopping perfume of violets, red roses, kirsch, black cherries and redcurrant jelly, before giving way to a profound core of warm blackcurrants, blackberry preserves, molten licorice and cinnamon stick with nuances of dried mint, orange blossoms (yes!) and cloves. Full-bodied, the fruit does veritable pirouettes on your palate, both elegant and powerful in its expression, coating the mouth with densely packed red and black fruits while revealing tons of mineral, floral and savory sparks, framed by exquisitely fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long." (97-99+ points) Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Interim Issue, April 2019
