The Best of Burgundy: Armand Rousseau at HDH Retail

With vines in the communes of Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Armand Rousseau offers some of Burgundy’s top wines. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Rousseau has produced what some consider to be the most spectacular Burgundian wine. With vines that have an average age of 40 to 45 years the grapes are planted on 15.33 hectares of vineyards. The parcels consist of soil rich with limestone, varying from plot to plot creating depth and variation in flavors. The vineyards are harvested solely by hand, allowing for the highest quality crop while achieving maximum quantity.

We have seen the great depth and quality produced by Domaine Armand Rousseau and are pleased to offer some of the most sought-after Burgundies today. The 2013 Chambertin, considered to be the masculine wine of Rousseau, is lined with aromas of gorgeous and ripe redcurrant, strawberry and bay leaf. The palate is balanced with full tannins; powerful and well-constructed. Neal Martin of Wine Advocate awarded the wine 95 points stating “This is what we call in the trade: ‘proper Chambertin.’” Also of special note is the 2009 Chambertin, Clos de Bèze which is considered to be the feminine alter ego of the Chambertin. The Clos de Bèze is filled with red and black fruit and wet stone aromas, while also revealing an exuberant spiciness.
